Who is the Arizer XQ2 for?

The Arizer XQ2 is the flagship desktop vaporizer from Arizer, the Canadian makers of the Extreme Q. Even in 2026 it is still widely rated among the best-value desktop vaporizers you can buy. It offers whip and balloon delivery, an all-glass vapour path, and a remote control at a price few desktops come close to.

The XQ2 runs on mains power, so it lives on a table at home. It also rewards a little technique, like the right grind and a few extra minutes of warm-up. Learn those small habits and it repays you every evening, from a slow flavour-focused whip session to a capped balloon you can carry to the sofa or pass around a group.

A Desktop That Looks Good on Display

The XQ2 is compact for a desktop vaporizer, about 16 cm across and roughly as tall, and it weighs around 500 g. That makes it light enough to carry to a friend's place, while classic desktops weigh several kilograms.

The base holds a bright digital display, five buttons, and an LED ring with eight colours. The ring doubles as a status light: it pulses orange while heating, flashes green twice when ready, turns purple when the fan runs, and cyan while cooling down.

As a small welcome, the display says "Hi" every time you switch it on.

Convection Heating Through Pure Glass

A ceramic element warms the air, and that hot air flows through your herbs, much like a fan oven cooks food evenly from all sides. Nothing burns; the herbs release their compounds gradually, so sessions run slower and longer than on most portables.

The vapour then travels through an all-glass path from the chamber to the mouthpiece. Glass adds no taste of its own, so what you inhale is the flavour of the herbs and nothing else. Every connection is glass-on-glass with a tight, full air seal.

Clean Air In, Isolated from Electronics

The intake air on the XQ2 never passes near the electronics. This is a real change from older Arizer desktops, and it matters most to health-conscious and medical users who want to know exactly what they are breathing.

A triple-layer replaceable air filter sits in the base and stops dust and airborne particles before they reach the airflow. Desktops with this kind of filtered, isolated air path usually cost far more.

Temperature Control from the Sofa

The XQ2 heats anywhere from 50°C to 260°C, adjustable in single degrees with the arrows on the base. The included remote goes further: it stores three programmable temperature presets, controls the fan and lights, and sets an auto-shutoff timer, all without leaving your seat.

One thing to know: the displayed temperature is measured at the heater, and the herbs run about 20 to 30°C cooler. Set it higher than you would on a portable.

Around 200°C is a good starting point. Lower settings preserve lighter compounds and terpenes, and stepping up towards 220°C late in the session extracts what remains.

One Glass Chamber, Two Session Styles

Herbs load into the Glass Connoisseur Bowl, a borosilicate chamber with a built-in honeycomb glass screen, so there are no metal screens to fit or replace. The XQ2 ships with two of these glass chambers included, plus silicone grips for handling hot glass.

Each chamber works two ways. One end takes a small load of about 0.1 g, held far from the heater, for light and flavour-focused sessions or microdosing. Flip it around and the other end takes 0.3 to 0.5 g closer to the heat for stronger group sessions.

The glass screen suits a medium to coarse grind; very fine material can fall through the holes. You can add the Arizer grinder, sold separately, which is built to deliver exactly that grind, and a spare glass chamber means a slip never ends the evening.

Whip, Fan-Assist, or Balloon

The XQ2 offers three ways to enjoy a session. The whip is a 90 cm silicone hose with a glass mouthpiece; draw slowly through it and the vapour comes straight from the chamber. Herbs sit loosely inside, so the draw is far easier than on a portable.

The 3-speed fan adds a second option that no other Arizer desktop offers: fan-assisted whip sessions. Set the fan and the XQ2 pushes vapour to you hands-free, with no effort needed. This makes it a strong choice for anyone with limited lung power.

The third option is the balloon. The fan fills a bag in roughly one to three minutes, and once you detach it there is almost no draw resistance; inhaling feels as easy as breathing. A silicone cap seals the balloon, so you can fill it, cap it, and wander anywhere in the house.

The kit includes two balloons and one cap. You can add a balloon pack with six spare bags and a cap pack to keep longer balloon evenings running.

How to Use the XQ2

The controls are straightforward once you know the rhythm of a session. A typical evening looks like this:

  1. Loading: Grind your herbs to a medium-coarse consistency and fill one end of the glass chamber loosely. Pick the small end for flavour or the large end for stronger sessions.
  2. Heating: Switch the XQ2 on and set your temperature, around 200°C to start. Wait for the double green flash, then give the glass another 3 to 5 minutes to warm through; this extra step makes all the difference to the vapour.
  3. Inhaling: Draw slowly through the whip, set the fan for a hands-free session, or fill a balloon. Stir the herbs with the included tool between rounds for even extraction.
  4. Stepping up: Raise the temperature towards 220°C late in the session to finish the extraction.
  5. Finishing: Power down with the remote or let the auto-shutoff timer end the session for you. The LED turns cyan while the vape cools, and the silicone grips make emptying the hot chamber safe.

Powered by the Wall

The XQ2 is a mains-powered desktop with no battery; it plugs into any 110 to 240 V outlet and stays plugged in during use. The reward is constant power with no timeouts: there are no charge levels to watch, and it holds even 260°C for as long as you like.

While the heater is on, herbs in the chamber keep releasing vapour and some scent, even between draws. Switching the vape off between rounds, or setting the auto-shutoff timer, saves material and limits the smell in the room.

Cleaning Kept Simple

The built-in glass screen makes cleaning unusually easy. The whole glass chamber goes into isopropyl alcohol for a soak, then a rinse and a dry, and it comes out like new. Every other glass piece cleans the same way.

The silicone hose and the balloons are treated differently. They are wear items, so they get replaced once residue builds up inside; swapping in a new bag is quicker than scrubbing an old one.

Spare parts are easy to keep on hand. A silicone whip, a pack of dome screens, and a replacement air filter cartridge cover everything that wears with regular use.

XQ2 vs Volcano Hybrid

The Volcano Hybrid is Storz & Bickel's flagship German desktop and the benchmark the whole category is measured against. Its pump fills balloons much faster, the balloons seal themselves, and its vapour quality remains the reference point.

The XQ2 answers with whip and balloon delivery at a third of the price. It also brings an all-glass vapour path, an included remote control, and a fan that runs near silent next to the Volcano's pump. Its balloons and spare parts cost far less too.

If effortless speed and the finest vapour quality justify the price, the Volcano earns it. If you want the complete desktop experience, both delivery systems included, without the flagship price, the XQ2 is hard to argue with.

XQ2 vs Extreme Q

The Extreme Q is Arizer's long-running budget desktop and the vape the XQ2 was built to succeed. It costs less, has a metal body, and delivers the same pure glass-on-glass flavour that made the formula popular.

The XQ2 is a full modernisation of that formula. Its glass is effectively ready in 3 to 5 minutes, while the Extreme Q needs 10 to 20 minutes to warm its glass through properly. It adds the dual-mode glass chamber, the isolated air path with replaceable filter, a brighter display, and a much simpler remote.

On a tight budget the Extreme Q still serves well as a proven workhorse. For a first Arizer desktop today, the XQ2 is the one we would choose.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. These are the add-ons we would pick for the XQ2.

Arizer Grinder: The kit ships without a grinder, and the glass screens need a consistent medium grind; this grinder is built to deliver exactly that. Grinders are 35% off when bought with a vaporizer.

TightVac MiniVac: An airtight, smell-proof container that keeps ground herbs fresh and ready beside the vaporizer between sessions.

Balloons (6-pack): Six spare bags for balloon evenings; balloons cloud up with residue over time and get swapped, not scrubbed.

Balloon Caps (4-pack): Four caps to seal filled balloons, so no vapour escapes between draws or while a bag passes around the room.

Balloon Connector: Keep a second bag fully assembled for quick swaps mid-session; connectors also wear from heat over time.

Glass Mini Whip with Glass Screen: Completes a fully glass path for balloon fills, with no metal screen to replace.

Glass Elbow Adapter with Glass Screen: Upgrades the whip to all-glass and adds a 19 mm connection for running the XQ2 through a water pipe.

Glass Aromatherapy Dish: Warms lavender or orange peel on the heater, so the XQ2 scents the whole room between sessions.

Glass Connoisseur Bowl: A spare dual-mode glass chamber, so a slipped grip never ends the evening.

Dome Screens (4-pack): Four spare screens for the elbow adapter and mini whip; the one consumable every whip user goes through.

Silicone Whip: A complete whip assembly; the hose is easier to replace than to deep-clean, and a new one brings back the taste of a first session.

PVC Whip: The lower-cost version of the same complete whip assembly.

Glass Whip Mouthpiece: An inexpensive replacement for the glass piece that gets handled the most.

Air Filter Cartridge: A new filter for the air intake; worth swapping more often in dusty rooms.

Remote Control: A replacement in case the original disappears into the sofa.

Warranty Information

The Arizer XQ2 comes with a 2-year warranty on the electronics and a lifetime warranty on the ceramic heating element; glass parts are not covered but are inexpensive to replace. All Arizer XQ2 vaporizers we sell here at MagicVaporizers are authentic Arizer products, made in Canada.
