Who is the Arizer Solo 2 Max for?

The Arizer Solo 2 Max is the most refined session portable from Arizer, the makers of the original Solo, one of the first portable vaporizers ever built. It takes a platform proven over seven years and adds USB-C charging, a self-flipping display, and battery life that few portables can match. Consistently rated among the best home session vapes, it suits anyone who puts flavour purity and easy upkeep first.

The Solo 2 Max is a home-first vape. It is built for relaxed, multi-draw sessions of ten minutes or so rather than one quick inhalation between errands. That pacing buys you steady extraction, herbs that stretch further, and glass that keeps every session tasting clean. Load a chamber, settle onto the couch, and let the evening run.

Design and Size, Built for Home

The Solo 2 Max stands 11.5 cm tall, measures 4.5 cm across, and weighs 213 g, with a sturdy shell of anodised aluminium in carbon black. The installed glass mouthpiece roughly doubles the height, which tells you where this vape lives: on a table or in a bag, not in a jeans pocket.

Three buttons and a digital display handle everything. There is no app to pair and nothing to update; every function lives on the vape itself.

For quiet evenings, a dark mode dims the display and the beeps can be muted completely. Both are new additions to the Solo line.

Pure Flavour Through Glass

Arizer's signature is its glass loading system. Each glass piece combines a herb chamber on one end and a mouthpiece on the other, separated by a built-in glass screen, so one piece does two jobs.

Your herbs sit inside that borosilicate glass while hot air flows through them. Along the whole path, nothing but glass touches the vapour; no plastic, no silicone, no metal. The result is the floral, sweet, and minty notes that many portables tend to flatten.

The same glass fits every Arizer Air and Solo model, so glass pieces and adapters carry over across the full lineup. If you ever upgrade within the range, your whole collection comes with you.

A Heater Ready in 30 Seconds

A ceramic heating element warms the oven at roughly 75% convection and 25% conduction. It works like an oven and a pan at once: hot air does most of the extraction while gentle contact heat keeps everything steady.

The heater is ready in about 30 seconds, roughly the time it takes to grind your herbs. The oven also senses your draw and holds its temperature through the inhale, so the vapour stays consistent through the whole draw.

The airflow is deliberately measured. Long, slow draws of around ten seconds work best, which suits the relaxed sessions this vape is built for.

Temperature Control Down to the Degree

The full range runs from 50 to 220°C. A tap on the up or down button moves one degree, and holding it jumps ten degrees at a time. The vape remembers your last-used temperature and starts there next time.

In practice, around 193°C brings out the most flavour from a new load. Raising the setting to about 204°C for a second round on the same herbs extracts what remains.

Through water, 210 to 215°C works well. Through a dry glass mouthpiece, it is better to stay below about 215°C, as vapour gets warm at the top of the range.

A Display That Flips for Water Pipes

The Solo 2 Max includes a 14 mm water pipe adapter in the box, a welcome upgrade over the Solo 2. The frosted glass adapter has its own herb chamber and connects the vape to any water pipe with a matching 14 mm fitting.

Turn the vape upside down onto a bubbler and the screen and buttons flip automatically to stay readable. It is a small idea that makes inverted water pipe sessions genuinely practical, and it leaves you wondering why nobody did it earlier.

Water cools the vapour considerably, which makes the higher end of the temperature range far more comfortable. A spare water pipe adapter is sold separately; it is the glass piece that takes the most risk in daily use.

A Small Chamber That Goes Far

The herb chamber holds about 0.15 g with a medium-coarse grind, a size made for efficient, measured sessions. Fill the chamber end of the glass, press the herbs gently flat, and stop there; overpacking tightens the draw.

Four steel screens come in the kit, but they are optional. Arizer recommends a coarse grind with just the built-in glass screen, which gives the most open airflow and the cleanest flavour.

The kit's two silicone caps and travel tubes support a simple pre-load routine: fill a few glass pieces at home, cap them, and swap through the day. Extra glass mouthpieces and a four-pack of caps are available separately if you want a bigger rotation.

How to Use the Solo 2 Max

Everything runs on three buttons, so a session follows a simple rhythm.

  1. Loading: Grind your herbs medium to coarse, scoop the chamber end of the glass mouthpiece into them, and press gently flat.
  2. Heating: Switch the vape on, set your temperature, and give it about 30 seconds to reach it.
  3. Inserting: Slide the loaded glass mouthpiece into the oven and let it warm for another 20 to 30 seconds.
  4. Inhaling: Draw long and slow over a relaxed session. For a second round on the same load, raise the temperature by about ten degrees.
  5. Finishing: Switch the vape off and remove the glass mouthpiece carefully, as the glass is warm. Tip out the used herbs and clear any leftovers with the included stirring tool.

Battery and Charging for Long Evenings

Two built-in 18650 cells give the Solo 2 Max up to three hours of continuous use, which works out to roughly 12 to 16 sessions per charge. For most people that means charging once a day or less, much like a phone.

Charging happens over USB-C through a port on the back, and both a cable and a wall adapter are included. A full charge takes about two hours.

The Solo 2 Max supports pass-through charging, so it keeps running while plugged in. The battery itself is sealed and not replaceable, a fact worth knowing before you buy.

Cleaning in Five Minutes

Because herbs stay inside the glass and never touch the oven, routine upkeep is close to none. A single glass piece can run dozens of sessions between cleans before flavour starts to dull.

A full clean takes about five minutes. Soak the glass pieces in isopropyl alcohol, rinse them with hot water, and let them dry completely before use.

The oven needs only an occasional wipe with a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol. That is the whole routine.

Solo 2 Max vs Solo 3

The Solo 3 is Arizer's current flagship session portable, one step above the Solo 2 Max in the range. It adds an on-demand mode for single draws, larger XL glass, and faster heating.

The Solo 2 Max answers with the same signature flavour for less. Both vapes run herbs through all-glass mouthpieces, and every Air and Solo glass accessory fits both models equally.

If sit-down sessions are how you vape anyway, the on-demand mode may go unused; the Solo 2 Max delivers the flavour that matters and leaves money over for extra glass.

Solo 2 Max vs Air Max

The Air Max is the Solo 2 Max's smaller counterpart, with near-identical internals in a lighter body. It offers a replaceable 26650 battery and slips into a pocket far more easily.

The Solo 2 Max counters with noticeably longer runtime per charge, around 170 minutes against roughly 120 for the Air Max. It also heats faster and carries a larger display.

Pocket carry favours the Air Max; long evenings at home favour the Solo 2 Max.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. These are the add-ons we would pick for the Solo 2 Max.

Soft-shell Case: The box has no case, and fragile glass deserves padding. This one holds the vape, the cable, and up to six glass pieces.

Glass Mouthpiece (110 mm): A second long glass means the next session can be pre-loaded while the first is still warm.

Glass Mouthpiece (70 mm): The compact glass keeps the overall height down for desk use and travel bags.

Silicone Glass Caps (4-pack): Cap pre-loaded glass pieces and carry a full day of sessions without a grinder; the kit's two caps run out fast once you own extra glass.

TightVac MiniVac: An airtight, smell-proof container that keeps ground herbs fresh and ready for filling the next glass piece.

Curved Glass Mouthpiece: The vape stands upright on the table while the mouthpiece angles towards you, made for couch sessions.

Tipped Glass Mouthpiece (70 mm): The food-grade plastic tip stays comfortable on the lips during high-temperature sessions.

Water Pipe Adapter (14 mm): A second adapter for water pipe fans; it is the piece most at risk when moving between vape and bubbler.

Glass Aroma Dish: Turns the Solo 2 Max into a low-temperature aroma diffuser for essential oils or dried botanicals.

Screens (6-pack): Optional steel screens that keep fine grinds out of the oven.

Stainless Steel Stirring Tool: A second tool for clearing used herbs, handy when the kit tool wanders off.
