The S&B app is available natively on Android; iPhone users access the same features through the browser-based S&B Web App. All core controls work from the touchscreen, so the app is optional.

The hybrid heating typically produces full, flavourful vapour right from the first bag. The Volcano Hybrid can achieve full extraction from a single bag, so your herbs go further.

Lower temperatures (around 150°C to 170°C) tend to bring out lighter, more delicate flavours. Higher temperatures (190°C to 210°C) typically produce more vapour with a more robust character. The whip tends to deliver a stronger burst of flavour, especially from a fresh bowl.

At higher temperatures, vapour can feel warm and dry. A glass bubbler like the Obsidian (sold separately) cools and humidifies the vapour if you prefer a smoother draw.

The ceramic-coated aluminium filling chamber holds up to about 0.6 g of ground herbs, with room for roughly 1 g if packed tightly. An optimal load sits around 0.3 g to 0.5 g, covering the bottom screen for even airflow.

The chamber locks onto the base with a twist, keeping it secure during use. The twist-lock is especially helpful during whip sessions or when passing the tube around.

For smaller loads (as little as 0.1 g), Storz & Bickel dosing capsules are a popular choice. They require a Dosing Capsule Adapter, sold separately. A dedicated filling chamber with the adapter already fitted is also available.

Storz & Bickel also sells concentrate pads for use in the filling chamber, though for regular concentrate sessions a purpose-built vape like the Puffco Peak is recommended.

5. For balloons: press the air button to fill a bag (about 35 seconds), then detach and inhale.
6. For the whip: draw through the tube, with or without the fan.
7. Remove the chamber between sessions to stop the herbs from cooking further.

The precise temperature control means your herbs will never combust. Removing the chamber between draws also helps conserve your material.

The Volcano Hybrid needs very little upkeep. After each bowl, a quick brush of the chamber screens keeps airflow clear. When flavour starts to fade, soak the chamber and screens in isopropyl alcohol, then let everything dry fully before reloading.
