The Mighty is the long-proven classic in the portable range from Storz & Bickel, the German makers of the Volcano. More than a decade after launch, it remains one of the most popular and well-reviewed portable vaporizers. New portables have been measured against it since 2014, and in 2026 that has not changed.

The Mighty costs more than most portables, and it is a large vape that fills a whole pocket. That size buys two batteries, a full-size cooling unit, and a display that smaller vapes struggle to fit. It skips newer conveniences like USB-C and fast heat-up; people who want those should look at the Mighty+ or the Venty. For everyone who simply wants smooth, consistent vapour with one button press, the Mighty has been a dependable answer for over ten years.

The Mighty wears a black body with orange buttons, and it looks more like a power tool than a vaporizer. The housing is made from PEEK, a heat-rated plastic used in medical equipment, and it is chosen to keep plastic taste out of the vapour.

It weighs about 235 g and sits comfortably in two hands or a jacket pocket. A small packing tool hides in the base, on hand when you need to level or stir the chamber.

The rounded base means the Mighty lies on its side between sessions. You can add a mini stand (sold separately) to keep it upright for loading, heating, and cooling down.

The Mighty heats with a hybrid system, which works like cooking with an oven and a pan at once. Hot air flows through the herbs while the chamber walls add direct warmth, helping extraction stay even from the first draw to the last.

Storz & Bickel pioneered this system in portables, and the Mighty is where they refined it. The vapour is often compared to desktop vaporizers, which is rare praise for anything that runs on a battery.

The heater reaches temperature in up to two minutes, depending on the set temperature and battery charge, and the Mighty vibrates when it is ready. The used herb comes out evenly toasted whatever the grind, as long as the chamber is filled without compressing it.

The cooling unit sits on top of the Mighty and twists off for loading. Inside it, the vapour travels through winding channels that shed heat before the mouthpiece, so each draw arrives noticeably smoother, even at maximum temperature.

This makes the Mighty a strong choice for anyone who prefers cooler, gentler vapour. The same cooling units, mouthpieces, and tools fit other portables in the Storz & Bickel range, so parts carry over if you ever own more than one.

If you want draws softer still, you can add a water pipe adapter with bubbler (sold separately) that filters the vapour through water.

The display shows the actual temperature in orange, the set temperature in white, and a battery bar. Two arrow buttons adjust in single-degree steps up to 210 °C, and pressing both arrows at once switches between °C and °F.

Lower temperatures around 175 °C preserve lighter compounds and terpenes. Higher temperatures around 200 to 210 °C extract more material in fewer draws.

There is no app and no Bluetooth. Everything happens on the vape itself, with nothing to pair, install, or update.

The chamber holds about 0.25 g of ground herbs and is forgiving about grind, though the chamber should be filled to the rim. Coarse, fine, or barely broken up, the Mighty extracts it best from ground material, and the finer the grind the more it releases.

The chamber walls taper inward like a funnel. When the session ends, the used herb tips out with a flick of the wrist, and the chamber is ready to fill again in a few seconds.

The Mighty also accepts aluminium dosing capsules, which hold about 0.15 g each and keep the chamber clean. One capsule is included in the box, and the same capsules work in other Storz & Bickel vaporizers. The Mighty is set up as a dry herb vaporizer.

You can expand the capsule routine with a magazine that holds eight pre-filled capsules, a filling kit that loads 40 at once, and a capsule caddy for your keychain, all sold separately.

The controls are about as simple as portable vaporizers get. A full session looks like this:

1. Loading: Twist off the cooling unit, fill the chamber with up to 0.25 g of herbs or drop in a dosing capsule, then twist the cooling unit back on.
2. Heating: Click and hold the orange power button, then set your temperature with the arrows. Starting around 170 to 180 °C works well; the Mighty vibrates when it reaches temperature.
3. Inhaling: Take slow, relaxed draws from the mouthpiece. The resistance is low, so gentle sips and firm pulls both work.
4. Stepping up: Raise the temperature in stages through the session, for example 180 °C, then 190 °C, then 200 °C. Each adjustment also resets the shut-off timer.
5. Finishing: The Mighty switches off on its own after two minutes of inactivity. Twist off the cooling unit and tip out the evenly toasted herbs with a flick.

Two internal lithium-ion batteries deliver about 90 minutes of running time, which in our testing works out to 8 to 12 sessions per charge. With regular use, that means charging every other day, much like a phone.

The Mighty supports pass-through use, so it keeps working while plugged in. A flat battery does not have to end the evening.

A full charge takes about 2 hours using the included 12 V wall adapter. The charging port is a barrel connector, not USB, and the batteries are built in.

Daily care takes seconds: tip out the chamber and give it a pass with the included brush. The conical shape leaves little behind.

Every few weeks, depending on use, twist off the cooling unit and take it apart. The parts (with the cap lock removed) soak clean in alcohol for up to an hour, then rinse and dry. The chamber itself only needs a wipe.

Many owners keep a second cooling unit in rotation, so one soaks while the other is fitted. A wear & tear set renews the cooling unit, mouthpieces, and screens in one go; both the spare cooling unit and the wear & tear set are sold separately.

The Mighty+ is the direct successor, with the same shape, the same hybrid heating, and the same patented cooling unit. It adds USB-C charging, a ceramic-coated chamber, faster heat-up, and small feet that let it stand on its own.

The original answers with near-identical vapour at a lower price. The hybrid heating and cooling unit carry over, so the two are hard to tell apart in use. The original also ships with more accessories in the box, including a grinder and filling aid.

If USB-C and quicker heat-up are worth the extra money, the Mighty+ earns it. If vapour quality per euro is the measure, the original comes out ahead.

The Venty is the newest flagship from the same brand. It heats in about 20 seconds versus the Mighty's minute or more, adds adjustable airflow, and in our testing in our testing manages 10 to 14 sessions per charge against the Mighty's 8 to 12.

The Mighty answers with a lower price and pass-through use while charging, a convenience the Venty does not offer. Its interface needs no app at all, and it carries more than a decade of track record.

Speed and airflow favour the Venty. Price, simplicity, and sessions that do not have to wait for the battery favour the Mighty.
