Who is the Boundless CFX+ for?
The Boundless CFX+ is the new generation of the Boundless lineup, from the makers of the CF and CFX. It is built for heavy users, for people moving from smoking to vapour, and for sessions you share with others. It is consistently praised for how cool and flavourful the vapour comes out.
The CFX+ weighs 284 g and feels like an extra phone in your pocket. In exchange for that size, you get the large chamber, the long cooling path and the runtime. Four years after its launch, few mid-range portables pair a chamber this big with a dedicated ceramic cooling path, which is what makes it so easy to share around a garden table.
A Compact, Flat Body with a Non-Slip Shell
The CFX+ measures 10 × 7 × 3 cm and sits flat in the palm. The plastic shell keeps the weight sensible and stays comfortable to hold through a long session.
A ridged rubber wrap runs around the body, so the vape stays put in your hand even with damp fingers. The grooves also help the shell release heat more quickly.
Set next to the original CFX, the body is about 2.5 cm shorter. The display uses a black background, so the CFX+ looks like an ordinary gadget when you use it outdoors.
Heat That Reaches the Whole Chamber
The CFX+ uses conduction-led heating. The ceramic chamber warms up and passes its heat straight into the herbs by contact, much like a warm hand thawing cold fingers.
It reaches temperature in under 25 seconds, roughly the time it takes to grind a load. On power-up it returns to your last-used temperature and starts heating on its own.
The chamber keeps soaking up heat as the session runs, so extraction builds through the middle minutes. A gentle extraction like this suits a longer timer: six or eight minutes gets everything out of a large load.
Cool Vapour from the Zirconia Path
Under the mouthpiece sits a long zirconia ceramic air path with a spiral shape inside. The vapour takes a longer, cooler route before it reaches your lips.
This is the same cooling idea found on far pricier portables, brought to a mid-range vape. The draw arrives comfortably cool, which suits anyone who finds hot vapour scratchy in the throat.
The mouthpiece has a flat slit on top and snaps on with magnets, so there are no threads to line up when you load or clean it.
Temperature Control You Set Once
The CFX+ runs from 121°C to 221°C in single-degree steps. Lower settings around 160 to 170°C preserve lighter compounds and terpenes, while settings above 200°C extract more material in fewer draws.
The menu opens when you press both side buttons at the same moment, and it takes a few sessions to find the rhythm. Inside it you set the session length, the display brightness and °C or °F.
Four presets are also available. A preset locks the buttons while it runs, which is useful when the vape is passed around a group and you do not want anyone changing your temperature setting.
The full-colour display shows battery percentage and a circular ring that fills as the vape heats. When the ring completes, you are at temperature. The vape vibrates when you power it on and off.
A Chamber Built for Big Loads and Sharing
The funnel-shaped ceramic chamber holds 0.3 to 0.5 g, among the largest in any portable. The funnel shape has no crevices, so herbs no longer slip into the casing the way they did on the original CFX.
Around a third of a gram gives the easiest airflow. Airflow resistance is moderate, so you pull with a little effort, and overpacking the chamber is the main thing that increases it. With the timer set to six or eight minutes, one load comfortably goes round a group of friends.
Optional accessories, sold separately, complete the loading process. The MV StashBox adds a four-piece grinder and a lockable bag that stores the vape and your herbs together.
A Stir Tool Hidden in the Mouthpiece
A small magnetic stainless steel tool stows inside the mouthpiece lid, so there is nothing extra to carry. It packs the chamber, stirs the load mid-session and scoops out used herbs afterwards.
You can lift it out with a fingernail or with the handle of the cleaning brush. A densely packed chamber benefits from one stir about halfway through; a loose pack needs none at all.
How to Use the CFX+
You control everything with two buttons on the side, and the display shows the current setting and status.
- Loading: Grind lightly so air can pass through, pull the magnetic mouthpiece straight off, and fill the ceramic chamber. Level the herbs with the built-in tool without compressing them.
- Closing: Snap the mouthpiece back on and check it sits flat. If it sits crooked, lift it and reseat the screen piece underneath.
- Heating: Hold both side buttons for about three seconds. The vape vibrates and begins heating at your last-used temperature.
- Setting: Press both buttons together to open the menu, adjust the temperature in single degrees, and pick a session of 2, 4, 6 or 8 minutes.
- Inhaling: After about 20 to 30 seconds the ring on the display completes. Take long, steady draws.
- Stirring: With a dense pack, pop the mouthpiece off halfway through, stir the load, and snap it back on.
- Finishing: When the timer runs out the chamber switches off and a standby icon appears. Hold both buttons for three seconds to power off, then remove the mouthpiece and tap the used herbs out.
Battery and Charging, About an Hour
The CFX+ gives 6 to 8 sessions per charge, which works out at roughly 60 to 90 minutes of vaping. The battery sits sealed inside the body, so there are no cells to swap.
A full charge takes about an hour over USB-C from any USB charger or a power bank, much like topping up a phone. The box includes the cable but no wall adapter, and a low-output or shared charger will take longer.
There is one habit worth getting into. The vape stays on in standby once a session ends, so hold both buttons for three seconds to power it off when you finish, and the battery will still be charged the next time you use it.
Cleaning Made Simple
The magnetic mouthpiece pulls straight off and comes apart into three parts: the silicone section, the zirconia cooling path and a small screen that pops out. A dip in isopropyl alcohol clears the cooling path and the screen. The silicone screen holder should be cleaned with warm water only.
The chamber needs a brush after each session and an occasional wipe with alcohol. With no crevices in the funnel shape, there is nowhere for herbs to hide.
A clean screen matters more here than on most vapes, because particles that get past it settle in the narrow spiral and tighten the draw. A two-pack of mouthpiece screens is available separately, and a complete mouthpiece can be added if you would rather swap the whole assembly at once.
CFX+ vs CFX
The Boundless CFX is the long-running budget mid-range portable from the same maker, with a larger body and a lower price. It is proven over many years, more aggressive in character, and its three buttons change the temperature directly, with no menu to enter.
Noticeably cooler vapour is the most important difference on the CFX+, thanks to the zirconia cooling air path the older model does not have. The body is about 2.5 cm shorter, charging moved to USB-C, and you choose the session length yourself: the CFX runs a fixed five minutes, the CFX+ offers 2, 4, 6 or 8.
If you care about cool vapour with strong flavour and a full settings menu, the CFX+ is the update worth paying for. If you want the heavier, more aggressive sessions of the two, the older CFX is still the one to pick.
CFX+ vs Solo 2 Max
The Arizer Solo 2 Max is a mid-range convection portable with an all-glass vapour path. Glass and convection are what flavour purists tend to look for, and the glass pieces can be paired with a water piece.
A chamber that holds up to 0.5 g puts the CFX+ ahead on capacity, which suits long sessions and sharing. It heats up in under 25 seconds against the Solo 2 Max's 30, a full charge takes about one hour against about two, and the session timer offers 2, 4, 6 or 8 minutes.
Choose the Solo 2 Max if glass purity matters most; choose the CFX+ if you want a big load, cool vapour and a one-piece body with no glass to protect.
Recommended Accessories
Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. Here are the accessories that suit everyday use of the CFX+.
MV StashBox + 8 Accessories: The CFX+ arrives with no grinder and no case, and this lockable bag covers both, with a four-piece grinder, a tray and smell-proof bags inside.
Magnetic USB-C Adapter: Sits in the USB-C port and lets the charging cable snap on magnetically, sparing the port the wear of daily plugging in.
TightVac MiniVac: An airtight pocket container that seals in odours, and a good place to store already-vaped herb (AVB) you want to keep for later.
TightVac Debowler: Tap the chamber out into it after a session, so emptying the CFX+ is quick and nothing ends up on the table.
Mouthpiece: A second complete assembly, cooling path and stir tool included, means one can soak in alcohol while the other stays in use.
Mouthpiece Screens: Sized for the CFX+ mouthpiece, so the narrow cooling path stays clear as residue builds.
Warranty Information
