Stainless steel balls are the heaviest fill available for the Tempest cap, weighing in at 5.6 g, against 4.1 g for the standard zirconia. Each set contains around 50 pieces at 3 mm.
All that mass takes longer to warm through, roughly 38 to 43 seconds at 80 W on an induction heater, and it holds heat far longer once it reaches temperature. The payoff is a long, gradual extraction with a smooth climb, which suits unhurried sessions.
The heaviest fill of the range puts stainless steel balls at the patient end of the spectrum: they take longer to warm, then hold their heat through draw after draw. If you like a session that keeps performing after the cap comes off the heater, this is the material for it.

The steel balls are okay, I just expected more, especially when vaporizing extracts. I thought they would take longer to heat up and then retain heat for a longer period. The difference to the original zirconium balls is minimal, though. For the price, they're still worth buying and trying out.
