Who is the Puffco Proxy for?
The Puffco Proxy is the portable model in the Puffco range, a concentrate vaporizer shaped like a curved pipe. It is made for concentrates only and does not vaporise herbs. It is consistently rated among the best portable concentrate vaporizers available.
The chamber is small by design, so loads around the size of a grain of rice work best. Battery life runs to 10 to 15 sessions per charge, which comes with the pocket-sized format. Sessions need no water and no setting up, so the Proxy travels easily to a garden chair or a hotel room.
A Pipe Shape Built for Pockets
The Proxy has two parts: a frosted glass pipe and the base that holds the electronics. Together they weigh 77 g and measure 14 × 7.5 × 3.5 cm, small enough to sit in your palm.
The frosted finish feels smooth but not slippery, and the shape works in either hand, with the button and the carb cap both easy to reach. The 2025 glass also stands upright on a table, so the mouthpiece stays off the surface.
The packaging doubles as a carry case, with a magnetic lid and a small space for concentrate. The Proxy sits loosely inside, and the pipe is still glass, so pack it with care.
The 3D Chamber and Real-Time Temperature Control
The Proxy heats by conduction inside a replaceable ceramic 3D Chamber. Heating elements run through the ceramic, so the chamber heats from the walls only and the base stays cooler. Picture a ring of warmth around the sides with a cool floor underneath.
Intake air pushes the concentrate onto the hot walls, where it vaporises. Between draws it settles back down to the cooler base, so it is not cooked continuously.
Real-time temperature monitoring watches the chamber during the session and holds the heat where you set it. That is the reason the flavour stays clean through to the last draw.
The 2025 chamber is about 1 mm deeper than the original's, which keeps more concentrate away from the air path. It also holds 8% more volume than the chamber in the new Peak. Small loads suit it best, and it is efficient with them.
One Core, Many Pieces of Glass
The base, called the Core, is self-contained: chamber, battery and electronics in one piece. You can lift the Core out of one glass piece and drop it into another, so a single Core works with many different glass housings.
Longer dry glass pipes cool the vapour further without water. A bubbler attachment adds water filtration, and adapters connect the Core to a standard dab rig. Third-party and custom glass pieces work as well as Puffco's own, which is why glass collectors like this design so much.
Owners have run the Core inside watermelons, corn cobs and apples, and Puffco held a launch contest for the most creative housing.
Every glass piece from the original Proxy fits the 2025 version, so you can keep using the glass you already own.
Two fitted glass options are sold separately here: the Wizard, a tall dry pipe that cools without water, and the Bub, a bubbler that adds water filtration.
Clean Flavour Without Water
The air path inside the base is metal and the mouthpiece is glass. The original Proxy used a silicone path, and the change to metal gives a cleaner taste and is easier to wipe clean.
The joystick carb cap comes fitted as standard. It flips open for loading and cleaning, and you can turn it during a draw to steer the airflow. If you use a ceramic pearl in the chamber, the cap spins it.
Slow, steady sips work best. Hard draws can pull concentrate into the air path, which means more cleaning later. Waterless sessions stay comfortable at the lower and middle presets, and a water piece helps at the top of the range.
Four Presets You Can Change
The Proxy runs four presets between 254°C and 285°C, each with its own LED colour. The steps are 254°C, 266°C, 277°C and 285°C.
Lower settings preserve delicate extracts and lighter flavours, and 266°C is a common starting point. The two higher steps extract more material in fewer draws, and they use more battery.
Boost Mode raises the temperature and extends the session. Double-click again once the Proxy is at temperature to start it. Boost is far more comfortable through a water piece, so keep waterless Boost sessions gentle.
Custom Presets Through the App
The Puffco Connect app connects over Bluetooth. You can set the temperature, the session length (up to two minutes) and the vapour intensity for each of the four presets.
The app also shows the live chamber temperature and installs firmware updates, and it sends a cleaning reminder after around 100 sessions.
The LED settings are in the app as well: brightness, patterns, a candle flicker, a hologram mode, and a stealth mode that turns the light band fully off.
Custom presets save to the Proxy, so the app is a setup tool and not a daily requirement. Most of what the 2025 version adds sits in this customisation, so it is worth pairing once and fine-tuning the presets to your taste.
How to Use the Proxy
One button and a wrap-around LED handle everything on the vaporizer itself.
- Loading: Flip open the joystick carb cap and place a load about the size of a grain of rice into the chamber with the included tool, then close the cap.
- Choosing a temperature: Hold the button to unlock, then single-click to step through the four presets. The LED colour shows which one is active.
- Heating: Double-click. The LED animates while heating, then goes solid and the Proxy vibrates in under half a minute.
- Drawing: Sip slowly and steadily. Turn the joystick cap during the draw to steer the airflow.
- Boost: Double-click again while the Proxy is at temperature for a higher temperature and a longer session. This is most comfortable when you use it with a water piece.
- Finishing: The heat cycle ends on its own when the set duration runs out, and the Proxy returns to standby. Swab the chamber while it is still warm.
Battery and Charging Like a Phone
The battery is built in and covers 10 to 15 sessions per charge. It is 22% larger than the cell in the original Proxy. Higher presets and Boost Mode use it up faster.
Charging runs over USB-C on the base and takes about one to two hours. The battery is sealed, so it is not user-replaceable. The Proxy also works while it is plugged in, which helps at a desk or in a car.
The box includes a USB-C to USB-C cable but no wall plug. You can add a fast charger to cover home and travel, plus a magnetic USB-C adapter (sold separately) that takes the strain off the charging port.
Cleaning Takes One Quick Wipe with a Cotton Swab
Cleaning is mostly a single habit. Flip the joystick cap open and swab the chamber with a cotton swab after every one or two sessions, while it is still warm. Four cotton swabs and a loading tool that doubles as a cleaning pick are included in the box.
For a deeper clean, unscrew the 3D Chamber from the base and soak it in 99% isopropyl alcohol, then run a dipped swab through the air path. The base should stay out of any liquid. Dry everything fully before putting it back together.
The ceramic chamber is a wear part and needs replacing from time to time. A new 3D Chamber (sold separately) screws straight in. Chambers are generation-specific, so match it to the Proxy you own.
Proxy vs Peak
The Peak is Puffco's entry electronic dab rig, a countertop piece with water filtration built into a fixed glass body. It filters through water with no extra accessory, it costs less, and it is the better pick if every session goes through water.
The Proxy's Core lifts out into other glass, which a fixed body cannot do. Its chamber also holds 8% more volume than the chamber in the new Peak, and the whole thing is a 77 g pipe you pocket.
If you always use water, choose the Peak. For concentrate sessions away from a table, the Proxy is the easier one to carry.
Proxy vs Pivot
The Pivot is Puffco's smallest and most affordable concentrate vaporizer, a pen-shaped piece with a silicone mouthpiece. It is the most pocketable in the range, it is simpler, and it gives a similar number of sessions per charge.
In return, the Proxy offers a larger chamber and more power, plus a glass mouthpiece and a metal air path where the Pivot uses silicone that collects residue. App control, the joystick carb cap and the modular glass ecosystem have no Pivot equivalent.
If pocket size is all that matters, choose the Pivot. If you want flavour, control and the option to swap glass pieces, choose the Proxy.
Proxy vs Peak Pro 3DXL
The Peak Pro 3DXL is Puffco's flagship electronic dab rig, with water filtration built in and a 3DXL chamber that takes up to 0.5 g. Its larger body allows around 40 sessions per charge, and it runs the same Puffco Connect app.
The Proxy is the 77 g device you actually carry with you, while the 3DXL stays on a table. It gives 10 to 15 sessions per charge in that format, and the Core moves between glass housings while the 3DXL stays one fixed configuration. Waterless flavour is among the strongest in the range.
Large loads and built-in water filtration at home point to the 3DXL. The Proxy suits sessions where there is nothing to fill, drain or set up.
Recommended Accessories
Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. Here is a short guide to what fits a Proxy order well.
USB-C Fast Charger (45W): The Proxy comes with a cable but no plug, so this covers charging at home and away, and it works with your other USB-C gear.
Proxy Wizard: A tall, free-standing dry pipe that more than doubles the air path for cooler sessions without water.
Proxy Bub: The fitted water bubbler for the Core, and the smoothest way to run the higher presets and Boost.
New Hot Knife: Heated ceramic tip that drops a clean load into the chamber in about three seconds, with nothing smeared on the walls.
Core Accessory: A second Core lets one stay in a bubbler or a custom piece at home while the other lives in the pocket pipe. It also replaces the whole heating assembly if a fault affects more than just the chamber.
Magnetic USB-C Adapter: The magnetic connector pulls away when the cable is yanked, keeping wear and accidents away from the charging port.
3D Chamber: Heating and taste fade as a ceramic chamber ages, and a new one brings both back.
Warranty Information
The Puffco Proxy comes with a 2-year warranty on the electronic base and a 1-year warranty on the battery. All Puffco Proxy vaporizers we sell are authentic Puffco products.
