Who is the Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL for?

The Peak Pro 3DXL is the flagship e-rig from Puffco, the concentrate specialists who created the modern e-rig category with the original Peak. It rates consistently well among e-rigs, and two things explain that: the 3DXL chamber, and temperature control that holds steady through a whole draw.

This is a concentrate-only rig, so it does not work with dry herbs. It sits at the premium end of the category, and in exchange you get the 3DXL chamber as standard, the companion app with firmware updates, and a magnetic hard case in the box. If you dab daily and want repeatable results without a torch, this is the rig that makes that routine quick and simple.

A Rig Built Around Glass and Metal

The base stands 15.5 cm tall and weighs 376 g. Inside is a metal core with stainless steel elements. The silicone outer body is fluted, which helps it shrug off concentrate drips. With the Glass 2.0 water piece fitted, the assembled rig stands about 24 cm, so it sits comfortably on a table and can still be held in one hand.

The single button on the front does everything, and it buzzes lightly each time you press it. An LED ring at the base and lights under the glass show the heat setting, the battery level and error codes. You always know what the rig is doing without reaching for your phone.

Four rapid clicks activate Stealth Mode, which switches every light off. The rig travels in the included magnetic hard case. It has a snap closure, a clip point for a carabiner or strap, and moulded compartments for the cable and swabs.

3DXL Chamber: Bigger, Deeper, No Heat at the Floor

The 3DXL chamber is the reason people choose this rig. Its heating coils sit in the side walls only, with no element in the floor. Think of the chamber as a bowl formed by heated side walls: warmth comes from the edges, never from below.

That layout matters in practice. During a draw, the concentrate climbs the heated walls in thin layers. When you pause, it settles onto an unheated floor, so nothing scorches. The bowl is 23 mm deep against the standard chamber's 15 mm, giving 78% more capacity without a wider bore.

The extra depth lets the chamber handle big loads well. Dabs of 0.3 g to 0.5 g and larger sit in the deeper bowl with far less concentrate pooling and far less residue left behind. That means less waste and a cap that stays cleaner. Puffco says that the 3DXL produces around twice as much vapour as the standard 3D chamber.

Vapor Control is Puffco's adjustable vapour output setting in the app, and fitting a 3DXL unlocks its exclusive XL level. If you want a second one in rotation, both the 3DXL chamber and the smaller 3D chamber are available separately.

Temperature Control That Stays Steady

Several sensors inside the chamber feed a microprocessor that adjusts the heat continuously. It works like a thermostat for the heating chamber: the rig holds the temperature you set, no matter how big the load is or how hard you pull.

Voltage-based rigs push full power for a set time and can overshoot at the start. Holding a true temperature keeps the flavour clean right to the end of the draw.

Four presets cycle with a single click: Blue at 254 °C, Green at 266 °C, Red at 277 °C and White at 302 °C. 254 °C to 266 °C keeps delicate terpenes intact, while 277 °C to 302 °C extracts more material in a shorter cycle. Green is a sensible place to start.

Two extra modes hide behind click patterns. A double click during a running cycle triggers Boost, adding 15 seconds and about 10 °C. Five clicks start Intensity Mode, which Puffco designed for dry dabs, with no water in the glass.

Smooth, Cooled Draws Through Glass 2.0

The included Peak Pro Glass 2.0 is cone-shaped borosilicate glass. At 96 g it is heavier and sturdier than the previous generation. Five laser-cut percolator slots at the base feed air into internal vortex grooves that cool the vapour on its way up.

The metal XL Joystick cap sits on top of the chamber and doubles as the airflow control, so there is no separate knob to turn. Four intake holes steer air into the edges of the chamber and push concentrate onto the heated walls. Let go and a spring returns the cap to the centre, much like the stick on a gaming controller.

The joystick also spins a finned terp pearl for you, so you never have to stir the concentrate by hand. The stock mouthpiece points straight up, so you lean over the rig a little to inhale. If you want a lower, easier-drawing setup, a travel glass and a replacement Glass 2.0 are both available separately.

An App You Set Up Once

The Puffco Connect app is where you find the advanced settings. It gives single-degree control from 232 °C to 316 °C, session lengths up to 2 minutes and up to 25 saved heat profiles. You also get Vapor Control levels including XL, live chamber temperature, a dab counter, cleaning reminders and custom LED colours.

Firmware updates arrive through the app too, and they have added real function to rigs already in use. One update unlocked Vapor Control across existing Peak Pro rigs at no cost.

The rig works fully without your phone. All four presets run from the single button, along with Boost, Intensity and Stealth. Saved profiles are stored on the rig itself. Two things to know: a firmware update through the app is required before the 3DXL chamber will work, and Bluetooth needs re-pairing fairly often.

The app is on the Apple App Store and Google Play. On iPhone, Puffco recommends installing it through the Puffco Path Browser.

Loading the Chamber

The concentrate goes on the bottom surface of the chamber, in the centre rather than against the walls. A rice-grain sized dab is the usual starting point. The deeper bowl handles much larger amounts when you want them. The included loading tool does the job and also works as a scraper for reclaim, the leftover oil that collects in the glass.

A warm chamber makes loading far easier, because the concentrate melts straight in and does not smear on the side walls. The Hot Knife (sold separately) helps here. Its heated ceramic tip releases concentrate in about three seconds.

How to Use the Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL

One button handles the whole session, and the vibration tells you when to draw. Charge it fully first. Then remove the protective paper insert from inside the chamber, and the film from under the glass.

  1. Filling: Lift the glass off the base, then pour water through the mouthpiece to just above the percolator slots. Refit the glass by aligning its inlet hole with the chamber.
  2. Loading: Place your concentrate in the centre of the chamber floor with the loading tool.
  3. Powering on: Hold the button for three seconds and check the battery light. Green is full, orange is half, red is low.
  4. Choosing a temperature: Single-click through Blue, Green, Red and White, or pick a saved app profile.
  5. Heating: Double-click to start. About 20 seconds later the rig flashes and vibrates twice.
  6. Drawing: Inhale gently while rotating the joystick cap. A second double-click adds Boost for a stronger finish.
  7. Finishing: The cycle stops by itself after its set duration. To finish early, press and hold. The rig then goes to sleep on its own.
  8. After the session: Wipe the warm chamber out with a cotton swab, in gentle circles.

Battery and Charging: Around 40 Dabs per Charge

The Peak Pro 3DXL averages around 40 dabs per charge. For most daily users that means charging once a day, much like a phone. Higher temperatures and longer two-minute sessions draw more power than short low-temperature dabs, so your own number will land above or below 40 depending on how you use it.

A full charge takes about two hours from the USB-C port at the rear of the base. The kit includes a USB-C to USB-C cable but no wall plug, so you supply your own 5 V/2 A adapter. Any Qi pad charges it as well, and you can even top it up from a phone that offers reverse charging.

The battery is sealed inside and not user-replaceable. The app has a battery preservation mode that caps charging at around 80% to reduce stress on the cell, and for everyday top-ups the USB-C cable is gentler than a Qi pad.

If you do not have a spare wall plug, our USB-C Fast Charger (45W), sold separately, supplies more than enough power for the full two-hour charge.

Cleaning Takes Little More Than a Cotton Swab

The habit that matters most takes ten seconds. After every session, while the chamber is still warm, wipe it out in gentle circles with a cotton swab. Oil never gets the chance to bake onto the ceramic.

Every 100 dabs or so, give it a deeper clean to keep everything working and tasting its best. The app will remind you. Soak the glass in 90%+ isopropyl for 20 minutes, rinse it with water, then let it air-dry completely before it goes back on.

The chamber takes the same 20-minute soak in 90%+ isopropyl and then air-dries completely. Unlike the glass, it is never rinsed with water. For the base, clean the connection points and the air path with a swab dampened in isopropyl; never rinse or submerge it.

Clean gold connection pins also prevent the chamber-detection error, which shows up as a red and white flash. If you see that flash, tighten the chamber a quarter turn and clean the pins.

Aftermarket Glass and Six Years of Compatibility

Independent artists and companies make custom glass tops for the Peak, and the selection is one of the widest among e-rigs. Swapping is easy: lift the old piece off, align the inlet hole and press the new one on.

Glass fits across every Peak generation, and pieces bought six or more years ago still drop straight on. A custom top can make the draw airier or more restricted, depending on the piece. It also solves the awkward neck angle of the stock glass.

Your investment carries forward through every glass upgrade. The base and chamber stay; the glass on top can change as often as you like.

Peak Pro 3DXL vs Peak

The Peak is Puffco's entry-level e-rig: smaller and roughly half the price of the Peak Pro 3DXL. It runs a smaller integrated 3D chamber and a simpler glass bubbler, with one-button operation and nothing to configure. It still takes the same glass tops as the Pro.

The Peak Pro 3DXL gives you a deeper chamber, 23 mm compared with the Peak's 15 mm, with 78% more capacity. You set temperature in single degrees through the app and save up to 25 profiles, while the Peak runs four fixed presets with nothing to adjust. The Pro also adds wireless Qi charging alongside USB-C, around 40 dabs per charge where the Peak manages 35, and a magnetic hard case in the box.

If you dab occasionally and want the simplest way to get started, the Peak does the job well. The Pro is clearly better for precise temperature settings and large dabs.

Peak Pro 3DXL vs Proxy

The Proxy is Puffco's portable, modular concentrate vape: a compact heater and chamber that drops into interchangeable glass bodies. Its swappable bowl format and excellent carry case suit casual concentrate users well.

The Peak Pro 3DXL is built for the full home rig experience instead. Everything here points to sessions at a table: the 78% larger 3DXL chamber, five-slot water filtration in the Glass 2.0, and around twice the vapour of a standard 3D chamber. Detailed app control adds single-degree temperature setting, session lengths up to two minutes and Vapor Control up to XL.

Choose the Proxy if you want that modular flexibility on the move; choose the Peak Pro 3DXL if you dab at home every day. For true pocket portability, look instead at the Pivot, Puffco's pocket-sized concentrate vape.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer at MagicVaporizers. This is what is worth adding alongside the Peak Pro 3DXL.

USB-C Fast Charger (45W): The box has a cable but no wall plug. This adapter is the missing piece for the full two-hour charge.

Puffco - New Hot Knife: Melts concentrate straight into the centre of the bowl, so nothing smears on the chamber walls during loading.

Puffco Peak Pro - Travel Glass: Lowers the assembled height for transport and gives you a more natural head position while inhaling.

Puffco Peak Pro - 3DXL Chamber: This is the one true wear part in the system. Keep a spare and a crack never ends your evening.

Puffco Peak Pro - 3DXL Chamber - Black (Limited Edition): The same larger chamber in a black finish, for anyone building an Onyx or limited-edition rig.

Puffco Peak Pro - 3DXL Chamber - Plasma (Summer Edition): The same chamber in the Plasma colourway, a limited summer edition available while stocks last.

Puffco Peak Pro - 3D Chamber: The shallower bowl conserves material on small dabs, and it gives you a second chamber to run while the other air-dries.

Puffco Peak Pro - Link: Puts the Peak Pro's temperature control on a traditional glass rig you already own, replacing the torch and the timer.

Puffco Peak Pro - Glass 2.0: Accidents happen, and a full-size replacement gets you back to water-filtered sessions the same day.
