The concentrate pad is a stainless steel mesh insert that sits in the heating chamber. You place the pad in first, then add a small amount of wax or oil on top. The mesh holds the material in place as it melts, so it does not run straight down into the chamber and the airpath.
One pad comes with the vaporizer, and this is a replacement. Concentrates leave more residue behind than dry herbs, so having a clean pad available means you can carry on while the other one soaks. Stainless steel handles repeated heat cycles and cleans up with isopropyl alcohol.
For the best results, hold the vaporizer level or slightly tilted while drawing, and give it a moment at temperature before the first inhalation.
